Laws Concerning Youth in Hungary
Laws Concerning Youth in Hungary
After the political system change in 1989 from communism to democracy the Hungarian political elite started to dismantle the communist heritage. From the 1990’s the Hungarian Government put more and more effort into improving the quality of life of Hungarian youth. After Hungary joined the European Union in 2004, the possibilities for the youth became wider. Thanks to various youth programs which were offered by the European Union, like Erasmus, students had the possibility to be educated and work abroad more easily, so this way they can gained more experience.
Although there was an increase in laws which concern youth, there are still fields which needs to be improved. There are no clear laws about voluntary work or internship. The incumbent government needs to put more effort into promoting dialogue between the youth and government in order to further increase the well-being of youth in Hungary.
